World Vision COVID-19 Support
At One2One, we sponsor two children through World Vision in an attempt to make a difference to children’s lives in countries that are more vulnerable to poverty and ill-health
Elizabeth from Wema, Kenya has given us an update on her community via an Area representative. The Wema community are practicing social distancing and strict guidelines for hygiene. Their educational facilities have been closed during this time, and a curfew has been put in place during night time hours. Technology has helped them to communicate throughout their community and keep residents informed on the best practices for managing the spread.
In Sebu, Ethiopia, Gemechu’s community has been faced with hardship during this time. They have created an awareness program to distribute necessary hygiene products to stop the spread of the virus. World Vision are taking the steps to make sure rural communities like Sebu are receiving quality care and fulfill the duties of health systems and educational facilities.
If you would like to make a donation to World Vision to support their ongoing contributions to vulnerable communities during COVID-19, visit their website.
Early Days Workshops for Autism Spectrum Disorder
Early Days workshops are run throughout the year for parents of young children under school age who have recently been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or referred for an assessment.
The workshops are designed to support parents who are in the ‘early days’ of their journey through the assessment and diagnosis process.
NDS is encouraging members to promote the opportunity for NDIS participants to take part in new research about the changes made to the NDIS in response to COVID-19. The survey provides an important opportunity for participants, their families and carers to share their experience of interacting with the NDIA and the Scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic, including how NDIS participants have found using telehealth to access allied health services.
The survey is screen-reader friendly and will take about 15-25 minutes to complete. Participants can ask someone they trust, like a family member of friend or support worker, to help them complete the survey. The survey is voluntary and anonymous.
Participants, their families and carers can complete the online survey here.
Prevent, Support, Heal Campaign
Prevent Support Heal is an initiative of the peak body for community mental health, the Western Australian Association for Mental Health.
They are a community of people with mental health challenges, families, friends, and the services who support them and anyone who understands more investment and awareness is needed towards mental health community supports.
Their 2021 campaign seeks election commitments from the major parties to increase resourcing for prevention and innovative community support, as per the State Government’s own widely endorsed own plan.
To sign up to the campaign and show your support, visit their website. There are a series of events to get involved and support the movement.
