One2One Grapevine – March 2020

Vale Helen Francis

We are deeply saddened to announce that One2One consumer Helen Francis passed away unexpectedly at home on 18 February. Helen was a well known and much loved member of our One2One community. She was a friendly, smiling, social butterfly and will be sadly missed by her support staff, friends and family as well as everyone in the One2One team.

Go in peace Helen.

Vale Maria Mack

One2One would like to offer our sincere condolences to our first ever consumer Bill and his family.

Bill’s beautiful mum Maria tragically passed away on 21 February. A loving and devoted advocate for Bill, Maria also donated many hours of volunteer service to One2One as a board member between 2014 – 2017. Maria will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Physical distancing doesn’t have to mean social isolation

How can community organisations keep pace and rediscover their role in this complex, uncertain environment?

Befriend’s experiences over the last two weeks have given them great insight, first hand, into some of the challenges community partners are facing.

On the fly, they rapidly responded to the situation, making significant changes to their operating model in the interests of community wellbeing. As a team, they quickly moved beyond ‘response’ to ‘regeneration,’ stepping up to the task at hand to nurture social & community connectedness in creative new ways at a critical time. They’re journaling the experience, ‘working out loud’ as they navigate difficult decisions and unearth new approaches amidst this climate.

they’ll be sharing these experiences in chapters every two weeks to help offer insights into how they’re collaborating with others to pioneer new possibilities for supporting connection, and what they’re learning. Chapter 1 is here. Visit Befriend online for more of their stuff.
